Up to date time

I can not believe it was September since my last blog! Shameful! Anyway, most of the discussion between trainers recently has been about "he who must be obeyed" Cesar Milan. Please lets resist copying this man. I want my dogs to work because they find it rewarding not because I will take their heads off if they don't do as I want. The fella has charisma, I admit that, but I wouldn't let him anywhere near one of my dogs. Would you let him get hold of yours?

Puppy Party

Hi,
Haven't been here for a while. So need to catch up and tell you something really important.

The Beastly Thoughts DTS Puppy Party is getting out of hand! So many puppies! So it looks like we will have to start another puppy party and extra classes. Fantastic! We all just love teaching puppies and watching them play is just an added bonus. If you want to have a look at what we get up to just come on down to the Institute on a Friday. All welcome.

Karen.

Dominnce Theory

The thoery that dogs want to dominant has always been questionable and now more and more this is being disputed with upto date research. Read the article on the link above for more insight.

Also consider a day out for extra information from the experts:
http://www.ukrcb.org/symposium.htm

Cut from the above conference info are the following words by an expert canine behaviourist and researcher Alexandra Semyonova :-

".....dogs are not the egoists they are made out to be. Rather, they are constantly making behavioral decisions in an effort to keep both their inner landscape and the outer, social landscape stable. Their interactions are about finding and making trade-offs that will lead to mutually acceptable compromises rather than ‘winner takes all."

I will be going so spare seats available for any interested parties.
